Ex-Daesh prisoner on ‘Damascus Time’

Mohammad Shaban opines on ‘Damascus Time’ versus reality.

Syrian actor Mohammad Shaban, who has once been a Daesh captive, says the scenes in ‘Damascus Time’, where the terrorist group is portrayed, are very factual.

Directed by Ebrahim Hatamikia, ‘Damascus Time’ revolves around security threats by terrorists when an Iranian plane, conveying humanitarian aid to Syria, is challenged in Damascus Airport.

In the award-winning movie, Shaban has played the role of a Daesh leader; he noted that his real life experience with Daesh, as a captive, helped him a lot in dramatizing the role.

Recalling his imprisonment, the Syrian actor said he found the Daesh terrorists dumb people, who would believe whatever they were ordered, and who would easily be able to kill people.

Popular Iranian actors such as Babak Hamidiyan and Hadi Hejazifar as well as a number of actors from Syria and Lebanon are the movie's main cast.

‘Damascus Time’ recently managed to grab some awards, including Crystal Simorgh for Best Director, at the 36th edition of the Fajr Film Festival in Iran.
